EcoFilm is a certified compostable film designed to replace traditional nondegradable films such as low density and high density polyethylenes. It also provides superior mechanical properties and stability in comparison to other compostable films on the market. EcoFilm has been certified compostable by both DIN CERTCO and the Biodegradable Products Institute per EN 13432 and ASTM D6400 respectively. Unlike some compostable films, EcoFilm is heat and water stable and does not prematurely break down while in use making it ideally suited for organic waste collection and community composting programs. The exact time needed for EcoFilm to biodegrade is dependent upon the conditions and activity of the disposal environment (temperature, soil quality, activity of microorganisms). When placed in a typical commercial composting environment, EcoFilm will fully biodegrade into carbon dioxide and water within a matter of weeks. There is no ecotoxicity to the soil, plants, or microorganisms involved in this process. Since microorganisms are the means for biodegradation, EcoFilm is shelf and curb stable and will retain its integrity until disposed of properly.
